Help Us Plan For the Hemp Industry and
the Next STX, ETX, NTX Regional Meetings

What a joy it was to come together for the inaugural TXHIA Regional Conference!

The feedback has been overwhelming positive though we are aware of various items that need improvement, mainly a smoother registration process and printed materials, etc.  Given the event came together in such a short time frame with such tremendous attendance, we now have the first one under our belt and anticipate each event getting better and better.  Importantly, we were able to elect Al Crisp as the WTX interim board member, the first farmer board member for the first of four regions.

Please be patient as we go about establishing a foundation for this association.  It is anticipated that we will have our annual state convention sometime in February or March once the TDA has released the rules so that we can have education on the regulations.  At this annual state conference, there will be board member elections for 2 or possible more board seats – yet to be established.  The other board seats would be for industry veterans to help guide the farmer community and facilitate processing opportunities to benefit TXHIA members.

Ideally the next regional events will attract another group of informative, industry speakers.  Hopefully it will be at a venue similar to the Cactus Hotel, the rural dinner/social venue like the Christoval Vineyard, with entertainment of the quality of Urban Pioneers, the fabulous food from a rural caterer like the Rogue Kitchen provided with 100 lbs of grass-fed beef donated from ranchers like Winters Family and a coffee donor like Longhorn Coffee Co.  Similar venues and wonderful people to work with are out there, we just need to find them and share in the privilege of structuring the new, exciting Texas hemp industry.

In the meantime, we hope to connect interested parties to each other to help facilitate orderly production and processing of the three main cultivars for 1. protein (seed, seed oil, seed cake), 2. essential oil (CBD, CBG) and 3. fiber (bast fiber and hurd).  Much work is taking place in spite of the many unknowns.  As communicated by TDA Assistant Commissioner, Dan Hunter, it was recommended for no one to enter into contracts in this current state of the Texas hemp industry.

Cotton gin session has already begun in South Texas and will start in other parts of Texas in late September and October.  If possible, we anticipate conducting the other three regional meetings before mid-October so that farmers are able to attend and the association can elect interim farmer board members and regional representatives from our county coordinators for the STX, ETX, NTX regions.  To do so, we need your help to scout out the next venues and determine the level of interest for speakers, sponsors, vendors and attendees.

I will setup event reservations links for speakers, sponsors, vendors and attendees to determine level of interest and ability to setup STX quickly. Local STX attendees would be given priority for ticket purchases.

Come fill out a questionnaire below and put in a reservation for upcoming STX, ETX and NTX regional meeting as an attendee, speaker, vendor or sponsor.
